June 20, 1942: Japan transfers numbers of British and Commonwealth prisoners from Singapore to Thailand to work on what will later be know as the “Death Railway”
June 21, 1942: American technicians run test of Mark 14 torpedo at Frenchman Bay, Australia, amid reports of flawed performance
June 22, 1942: Japanese submarine I-25 fires on Fort Stevens, Oregon
June 23, 1942: General Robert L. Eichelberger takes command of US Army’s I Corps in the Pacific
June 24, 1942: Twenty-four B-17s originally destined for China are redirected to North Africa due to crisis there
