July 12, 1942: Advance Australian troops reach Kokoda village in New Guinea
July 13, 1942: 1st Filipino Regiment is activated in California
July 14, 1942: Major General Millard F. Harmon is appointed Commanding General of U.S. Army Forces in the South Pacific Area
July 15, 1942: Australian air force receives its indigenously produced Boomerang aircraft
