Reenactors in Taiwan

re3

Reenactment seems to be growing worldwide. Along with war gaming it is one of the ways that history enthusiasts can get a physical feel for the periods that they study in the books. An added value is the related research, often involving original sources, to ensure the highest possible degree of accuracy in terms of uniforms of equipment. Reenactors are also increasingly being used in film productions as film makers trust their attention to detail.

Taiwan too has a community of re-enactors, focusing, among other things, on Republic of China units from the period between 1937 and 1945, when they faced the Imperial forces of Japan. On this page, please find photos from an event in Taipei in June this year, taken by 楊宗烜 and kindly made available for this website.

The Taiwan Reenactment Group not only reenacts the Sino-Japanese war but also WW2 ETO and Pacific Theaters as well as the Vietnam war and the Korean war. We also have a section that reenacts the Royal Hong Kong Police.

Such an activity is a quit good experience for those who could only imagine the specific historical moment with some physical felling. Maybe next time I could try to appear for a while.
