Reenacting major military conflicts of the past is a fast-growing activity around the world, and while the majority of reenactors stick to traditional topics such as the American Civil War or the European Theater of Operatjons during World War Two, more niche areas are also getting attention. The Second Sino-Japanese War is an example of this. Ryan Daniels from the WWII Chinese Reenactors Association has kindly provided a series of photos from recent reenacting events. As is clear from these images, it’s absolutely crucial for reenactors to get every little detail right, and as a result, it is often extremely hard to distinguish reenacting photos from authentic ones, especially if filters are employed to give the images a more 1940ish hue.
